Abstract

This research article explores the foundational principles of Sufism as established by the Quran and Sunnah, emphasizing the construction of personality through a comprehensive framework that fosters the development of balanced and virtuous individuals. These individuals are equipped to play significant roles at social, religious, spiritual, ethical, and cultural levels. The article highlights the historical impact of Sufism, particularly during its peak, when it produced exemplary personalities and influenced various societal domains, contributing to the elevation of Islamic civilization. Despite the contemporary decline in the active role of Sufism, the teachings of notable Sufi figures, such as Hazrat Zahoor Ahmad Qadri, are presented as a beacon of hope, offering innovative insights that address modern intellectual and practical needs. The article delves into the core Sufi concepts, such as the unity of existence and the transformative journey towards spiritual perfection through practices like prayer, remembrance of God, and self-reflection. It underscores the importance of recognizing the divine presence in all aspects of life and the necessity of overcoming the illusions of selfhood to achieve a deeper connection with the divine. The research concludes by advocating for a renewed understanding of Sufism that aligns with contemporary challenges, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to personal and spiritual development rooted in the principles of unity and divine consciousness.
