Abstract

This research article examines Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s visionary insight into the future of the Muslim Ummah as reflected in his poetry, prose writings, speeches, and political thought. Iqbal did not merely interpret the political and civilizational crises of his own age; rather, he anticipated many of the challenges that later confronted the Muslim world. The article explores Iqbal’s foresight in relation to the decline of the Ottoman Caliphate, the fragmentation of the Muslim Ummah, the rise of nationalism, the establishment of a separate Muslim state in the Indian subcontinent, the strategic importance of Afghanistan, the civilizational role of Iran, the condition of the Arab world, and the emergence of Israel as a major political challenge for the Muslim world. The study highlights that Iqbal regarded Muslim unity, selfhood, moral revival, political awareness, and adherence to Islamic principles as essential conditions for the reconstruction of the Muslim world. His reflections on Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, the Arab world, and Palestine reveal a deep understanding of global power politics and the long-term consequences of colonial and imperial strategies. The article argues that Iqbal’s predictions were not based on mere poetic imagination, but on historical consciousness, spiritual insight, and a profound analysis of the political forces shaping the modern world. In the contemporary context, Iqbal’s thought remains highly relevant for understanding the crises of the Muslim Ummah and for seeking a path toward unity, justice, independence, and civilizational revival.
